Word Woman's Latest Insights on Words

(Debbie Watts has provided some invaluable insights about the use of words.   In fact, she's coined the new word, "Wordabulous".  Scroll down to see how this wonderful new word can change your life.  Have you created a new word?  If you have, we would love to know. -- Chuck Whiting)

Hi, Word Lovers:

Do you love words as much as I do?  I guess that’s why I adopted the persona “Word Woman.”  In the coming months, I hope to enjoy chatting with you on such topics as: words to shape the 21st Century, words coined by Shakespeare, and coining your own words.

Speaking of coining your own words, I coined my own word, “wordabulous,” to describe what I hope to be a fun way to communicate.  To live “wordabulous-ly” is to use words effectively when writing, speaking, texting, e-mailing and blogging.

Here’s an example.  Take the word, “wordabulous.”  I fused the words, “word” and “fabulous” to describe the way life can be lived if we use words creatively and in a fun way.  Since I like the sound and the meaning of the word “fabulous” so much, it can be applied to many things to coin such words as: “blab-ulous,” to describe a person who loves to talk.  Someone who loves barbecued ribs might be “slabulous,” as well as a mortician who loves his job.  A seafood lover might be “crabulous.”  A chemistry enthusiast might be “labulous,” and a boxer might be described as “jabulous.”  Get it?

Now, coin your own, and get back to me. . . and have a “wordabulous” day!
